Blast at music concert in Sri Lanka kills eight

At least eight people have been killed and more than 200 people injured in an explosion in north-western Sri Lanka. A police spokesman said that the blast occurred at a music concert in a packed stadium in the city of Kurunegala, which is 50 miles north of the capital, Colombo. More than 100,000 fans had gathered for a performance by two popular singers from neighbouring India. Police say that a hand-grenade attack may have sparked the explosion. There were reports that a fight had broken out between two local gangs just before the blast.
