"English Passengers" takes Whitbread award

One of Britain's leading literary prizes, the Whitbread Book of the Year award, has been won by Matthew Kneale for his historical novel, "English Passengers".

One of Britain's leading literary prizes, the Whitbread Book of the Year award, has been won by Matthew Kneale for his historical novel, "English Passengers". The book took the prize of £22,500 on the casting vote of the chairman of the panel of judges. The runner-up was "Bad Blood", the autobiography of the late author, Lorna Sage.
