Business: Eircom profits depleted by rising costs

Profit at the phone company, Eircom, fell 30% in the six months to the end of September to £102m.

Profit at the phone company, Eircom, fell 30% in the six months to the end of September to £102m. Figures released by the company a short time ago show that while turnover rose 14% to £834m, costs rose by 66%. In relation to the sale of Eircell, Eircom says talks with Vodafone are continuing with a number of issues still to be finalised. Talks are due to be completed within the next couple of weeks.
