Britain to increase military presence in Sierra Leone

Britain has said that it is sending a sizeable military force to Sierra Leone, to support the government in its campaign against rebels.

Britain has said that it is sending a sizeable military force to Sierra Leone, to support the government in its campaign against rebels. The Defence Secretary, Geoff Hoon, told the Commons the task force would include two warships, three supply ships and approximately 500 Royal Marine commandos. Britain already has several hundred troops in the country training Sierra Leonean government troops.
