A post mortem examination has been carried out on the body of the 22-year-old Cork woman whose body was discovered near her home on Thursday night. Gardaí say that they are now treating the death of Rachael Kiely as murder and are satisfied from preliminary results that Ms Kiely was murdered near her home on the Inishmore Estate in Ballincollig in Cork.

Ms Kiely's body was discovered in a wooded area, close to a popular walk on the edge of the Inishmore Estate. She had been out walking her dog on a scenic route, which she liked to walk every day. The alarm was raised after the dog returned home alone. Ms Kiely's body was found soon afterwards following a search by Gardaí and local people. The State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, visited the scene this morning, accompanied by senior Gardaí and detectives from Cork City.
