Child benefit increases come into effect

Arising from the December budget, child benefit rates go up this month by £8 for the first two children and by slightly more for subsequent children.

Arising from the December budget, child benefit rates go up this month by £8 for the first two children and by slightly more for subsequent children. The new rates are £42.50 a month for one child, £85 for two, £141 for three and £197 for four. An extra £56 a month is payable for other children.
