British court rules Irish travellers covered by Race Relations laws

A county Court in London has ruled that Irish travellers are covered by Britain's Race Relations Act. Eight Irish travellers, who were supported by the Commission for Racial Equality, fought the case after they were refused service at five pubs in north London because of their ethnic origin. Britain's Commission for Racial Equality welcomed the judgement, saying that the court was right to note the extent of the discrimination and prejudice experienced by Irish travellers.
