Whaling nations, Japan and Norway, have successfully blocked a bid to establish an ocean sanctuary to protect whale breeding grounds in the South Pacific.

Whaling nations, Japan and Norway, have successfully blocked a bid to establish an ocean sanctuary to protect whale breeding grounds in the South Pacific. The proposal had been made by Australia at the annual general meeting of the International Whaling Commission, currently being held in Adelaide.
