Eritrea and Ethiopia are reported to have accepted ceasefire proposals 'in principle' and are expected to sign a formal agreement to end their two-year border war within a week. The announcement was made by a spokesman for the Organisation of African Unity. He said the development followed twelve days of indirect talks between the two countries. However reports from the region say Ethiopia has just launched an offensive along its frontline border with Eritrea. Earlier the Ethiopians said they had attacked the towns of Guluj and Tessanay in Western Eritrea because of what they called provocative attacks by the Eritrean army.
