A politician in the Spain's Basque region has been shot dead in an attack that officials say bore the hallmarks of the Basque separatist group ETA.

A politician in the Spain's Basque region has been shot dead in an attack that officials say bore the hallmarks of the Basque separatist group ETA. Jesus Maria Pedrosa, a city councillor and a member of Spain's ruling Popular Party, was shot in the city of Durango, near Bilbao. The assassination is the fifth since ETA announced the end of a ceasefire late last year.
