The Sinn Féin Chairman, Mitchel McLaughlin, has indicated that Martin McGuinness is willing to be questioned by the Bloody Sunday inquiry. Yesterday, Counsel for the inquiry, Christopher Clarke, read extracts from British security service documents which claimed that Mr McGuinness had fired the first shot that precipitated the Bloody Sunday killings. In an interview this morning, Mr McLaughlin said it seemed inconceivable to him that Mr McGuinness would refuse an invitation to attend the inquiry if requested. Mr McGuinness has described the claim by the British security service as a pathetic fabrication.
