Thomas Bailey, Launched Supreme Court challenge
The Property company, Bovale Developments, its Director, Thomas Bailey, and his wife, Caroline, have begun a Supreme Court appeal against the High Court decision to allow the Flood Tribunal to investigate their financial affairs in public. Last month, the High Court rejected a claim by the Baileys and Bovale that it would be a disproportionate interference with their constitutional rights if the Tribunal were to hear evidence of their financial affairs in public.
The Flood Tribunal is continuing to hear detailed evidence about the re-zoning of lands in north Dublin by councillors. The Tribunal has heard that officials warned against some of the re-zoning which resulted in losses of large tracts of the green belt between Portmarnock, Malahide and Swords. Bovale developments were one of a number of parties who had made representations to the Council to have the lands re-zoned.
