Residents block roads to prevent Dublin Port Tunnel tests

watch

Residents in the Marino area of Dublin have been preventing the corporation from carrying out drilling tests necessary for the construction of the Dublin Port Tunnel. Early this morning, around 30 local people obstructed the corporation as machinery and men moved in to carry out site tests. They intend to sink five boreholes into a green area near the houses to extract soil and rock samples.

The residents, who believe that they will be affected by the tunnelling, have been denied structural surveys on their houses as well as damage repair guarantees from the corporation. It is understood the corporation is now to seek an injunction against the residents.
