Gardaí at the scene of the murder
A 24-year-old man has appeared in Dundalk District Court, charged with the murder of 38-year-old Patrick Gallagher. Mr Gallagher's body was found in a house in Ardee, County Louth yesterday morning. A post-mortem found he died from multiple blows to the body. Michael John Connors, from Ferdia Park, Ardee, was remanded to Drogheda District Court next Tuesday.
Patrick Gallagher was found dead in his rented house in Ardee early yesterday morning. A post-mortem examination carried out on the body of Mr Gallagher showed that he died from head injuries sustained in a row rather than stab wounds. He had been found with a broken brush handle embedded in his chest. A second man arrested in connection with the murder has been released without charge. A file is to be sent to the DPP.
