The Labour Party leader, Ruairi Quinn, has said the Minister for Finance's budget cannot get through the Dáil in its present format. He told RTE News that the big crime of the budget was that low paid workers were ignored. He said the Taoiseach and the Tanaiste are also to blame.

Mr Quinn also spoke on getting back into power in a possible coalition government. He said he wants to rebuild the Labour Party so that it can set the agenda of the government after the next election.
