Ireland's Paul McGinley shot a third round 69 to move into a tie for second in the Australian Open and one stroke behind the leaders in Sydney. European No.1 Colin Mongomerie joins the Dubliner on 10-under-par.

However, both Europeans were put in the shade as round of the day belonged to Greg Norman after the 44-year-old Australian fired his lowest round in 21 years - a course record-equalling 8-under-par 64 - to throw open the possibility of a sixth national championship at Royal Sydney. 18-year-old Australian amateur Aaron Baddeley holds the lead heading into the last 18 holes. Baddeley holed four birdies and two bogeys on the way to a two-under-par 70 and a three-round total of 11-under 205. New Zealander Michael Campbell, who led going into today's third round, has dropped to joint fourth on 8-under.

At the Casio Open in Japan, Irelands Padraig Harrington is 9 shots off the lead held by Hiro Tahkada. Harrington shot a steady 1-under-par 71 to move to level par after three rounds.
