Sport: PGA Grand Slam of Golf

Tiger Woods has continued his rich vein of form, with victory over Paul Lawrie in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Hawaii.

Woods and Davis Love III advanced to the championship round of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf with victories over Lawrie and Jose Maria Olazabel yesterday. Just two days after teaming up with Mark O'Meara to capture the World Cup of Golf in Malaysia, Woods began the defence of his title at the event with a 4 and 2 victory over the Scot. The match was tied after the first eleven holes but the defending champion pulled away over the closing holes to take the tie quite easily. Love carded a 6 and 5 victory over Olazabal. Woods and Love were to square off today for the title in the $1 million tournament pitting the year's four major winners against each other. Love replaced Payne Stewart, the US Open Champion, who was tragically killed in an air accident last month.
