Bombing relatives criticise Government inquiry plans

Relatives of those killed or injured in the Dublin and Monaghan bombings have criticised the inquiries into the attacks announced by the Taoiseach.

Lawyer for the group 'Justice for the Forgotten' said that the relatives and wounded were convinced that a private inquiry would not and could not, by definition, seek out the truth.

Mr Ahern told the Dáil today that the Government had accepted the recommendations of the Victims Commissioner - former Tanaiste John Wilson - to set up formal inquiries into the blasts.
