Colm Toibín short-listed for Booker Prize

The Irish writer Colm Toibín is one of six authors short-listed for this year's prestigious British literary award, the Booker Prize. Toibín was nominated for his fourth novel, The Blackwater Lightship. The other candidates are Anita Desai for Fasting Feasting; Michael Frayn for Headlong; Andrew O'Hagan for Our Fathers; Ahdaf Soueif for The Map of Love; and J.M. Coetzee for Disgrace. The winner of the £20,000 award will be announced in London on October 25th.
