A United Nations post in southern Lebanon has been damaged by shelling.

A United Nations post in southern Lebanon has been damaged by shelling. The shelling is believed to have come from inside the Israeli-occupied security zone. There were no injuries.

The UN has begun an investigation into the incident. It follows a night of heavy fighting between Israeli troops and Hezbollah guerrillas - in which an Israeli lieutenant was killed.

Last month, a 22 year old Irish soldier, Private Billy Kedian, died when a mortar shell fired by a South Lebanese militia unit exploded inside the UN post at Barasheet.
