Military funeral at home for solider killed in Lebanon

Private Billy Kedian, the Ballyhaunis-born soldier who was killed in a mortar attack in the Lebanon is to be given a military funeral in his hometown at the week end.

Private Billy Kedian, the Ballyhaunis-born soldier who was killed in a mortar attack in the Lebanon in the early hours of Monday morning, is to be given a military funeral in his hometown at the week end. His remains are to be flown home on Friday afternoon and taken by Aer Corp jet to Knock Airport. Afterwards the cortege will make its way to Ballyhaunis. The funeral will take place after Requiem Mass in Ballyhaunis at midday on Saturday.

Private Kedian, who was attached to the 1st Battalion at Renmore in Galway, was fatally injured when a mortar shell fired by the Israeli backed South Lebanese Milita exploded inside the Irish base at Barasheet.
