This evening, helicopters have completed the two-day rescue airlift of 10,000 tourists from the Austrian valley of Paznaun, where the death toll from two avalanches has now reached 37. A baby was born on one of the helicopters.

This morning, rescue helicopters resumed the operation to airlift tourists trapped in the Austrian valley of Paznaun. The search for missing people continued amid a continuing high risk of new snowslides. Experts warned today that further avalanches could be expected.
