EU farm ministers consider CAP reform compromise

EU farm ministers have resumed their talks in Brussels on reform of the Common Agriculture Policy.

In Brussels, the Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has said that the latest CAP reform proposals on milk are an insult to Ireland. The Minister for Agriculture, Joe Walsh has said he is bitterly disappointed with the dairy proposals and the IFA say no real attempt is being made by agriculture ministers to address Irish issues.

The EU farm ministers resumed their talks in Brussels this morning on the reform of CAP. Ministers were considering a compromise offer containing changes to the European Commission's original proposals. The offer, presented by Germany in its role as EU president, includes changes to the proposals on cutting internal EU prices for cereals, beef and dairy products.
