The Director of Consumer Affairs has begun an investigation into so-called support money which is being sought by Superquinn from its suppliers towards the opening of its new store in Dundalk. Last Friday a number of these suppliers told RTE they believed that Superquinn was re-introducting "Hello Money" through the back door.

Supermarket boss, Feargal Quinn, confirmed they were looking for support money, but he said it was being done so within the law. Today a former supplier to the supermarket group told RTE he did not believe the discounts suppliers were being forced to give were being fully passed on to consumers.
