Strictly Am-Dram follows a diverse number of amateur drama groups from different parts of Ireland in the build up to their annual event, the All-Ireland Finals, held in Athlone in May each year.
This is real pride of the parish stuff: a wet winter's worth of rehearsals, walkouts, fluffed lines and acclaim or disappointment. Divas rub shoulders with real nose-to-the-grindstone individuals to make up the rich tapestry of a community. See the cheers, jeers and rivalry as the members of the various groups sweat it out with a community's expectations riding on them.
This new six-part observational documentary series, will offer an insight to six very different groups which will capture the essence of amateur drama's unique place within every community in the country. From the parish priest to the bank employee, the housewife to the aspiring young actor – all share a commonality: a passion to tread the boards…regardless of how they creak!Back to Lifestyle New Season Highlights Back to RTÉ One Highlights
