Usage on the RTÉ Player increases 18% in 3 months (Source B&A Research)

Latest research on the Video on Demand market and the RTÉ Player carried out by Behaviour and Attitudes, shows that overall VOD usage has increased 13% in the last three months and that overall usage on RTÉ Player has increased by 18% in the same period, with 1.3m adults having used the service.

The survey which took place in April this year, shows that the majority of users of RTÉ Player are aged under 50 years, with 59% of its audience being aged between 25-49.

“The use of Video on Demand has now truly reached a tipping point, with consumption growing to just short of 60% of the population using VOD services. The research carried out by Behaviour and Attitudes, shows great results for RTÉ Player, with its growth in popularity outpacing overall growth in the VOD marketplace” commented Conor Mullen, Commercial Director RTÉ Digital.

  • The media landscape has seen VOD usage grow by 13% over the last 3 months, and by over one third in the last 12 month
  • Usage on RTÉ Player increased 18% in three months, with over 1.3m adults having used the RTÉ Player
  •  Usage is strongest in the under 35’s
  • RTÉ Player is used by 58% of under 24’s, and 48% of the 24-35 age range, with 42% of the RTÉ Player audience having children in the household.[i]

 

RTÉ Player is now available on Android, iOS, Samsung Connected TV, Online, UPC, and Xbox 360, and can be accessed by approximately 2,000 different devices.
