Georg Frideric Handel,
born this week back in 1685, certainly captivated the ears and the imagination of concertgoers in his day, and has done the same in ours. Share your Sunday morning breakfast table with the composer as Vlad presents a full menu of Handel's music on Vox Nostra today.

Isabella Leonarda pops out of the convent briefly to present two of her wonderful motets and the Sunday Sonata features a triple treat of Sinfonias performed by the wonderful duo Repicco, featuring violinist Kinga Ujszàszi and Jadran Duncumb, theorbo.

Vox Nostra with Vlad Smishkewych

A personal view into what got Vlad into early music in the first place, on Sunday's Vox Nostra.

Christmas season is now a distant memory, but one of the most memorable tunes from the time, 'In dulci jubilo' was written by a man who died this week back in 1629--Hieronymus Praetorius. However, this German composer and organist was also responsible for a number of other wonderful musical works. Unrelated to his arguable more famous and earlier colleague of the same surname, Hieronymus was one of the first German composers to show the influence of the Venetian style. Vlad explores his choral and organ compositions on today's programme, and takes some time to help Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart blow out some candles on his 262nd birthday cake, as well.
