Vox Nostra with Vlad Smishkewych Sunday 10 September 2017
Thank you for all the kind messages acknowledging Vox Nostra's shortlisting for this years IMRO radio awards in the Specialist Music Programme category.
The team is looking forward to a good and hopefully successful night out in October. We'll keep you posted!!
Coming up on Vox Nostra on Sunday 8th October.
Dom Dinis, grandson of Alfonso X 'The Wise' of Cantigas de Santa Maria fame, carried on the family tradition of troubadour poetry and music. A manuscript uncovered in Portugal in the later 20th century bears witness to his music and text, even though it was nearly destroyed during a botched restoration job. Luckily for us, musicologists and performers have been able to team up and bring the music of this Portuguese king to our modern ears. Featuring Dinis' Cantigas d'amor (love songs) as well later musical gems Heinrich Schutz and Philipp Friedrich Boeddecker, Sunday's Vox Nostra is an aural feast of music worthy of being crowned with the highest honours (and some of it was, in fact).
Vox Nostra and RTé lyric fm celebrated the European Day of Music with a fanfare of festivity.
The 21st March marked not only Bach's birthday and the spring equinox, but also the
European Day of Early Music! In this fifth celebration of the special day, RTE lyric fm joined forces with REMA, the European Early Music Network, for a day filled to the brim with a thousand years of glorious music, historic instruments, and live concerts all around Ireland.
