Wide Open Opera's first production Tristan und Isolde had its opening performance on September 30th last at Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy. This documentary charts the birth of a new opera company and documents its production of Tristan und Isolde through rehearsals to final night. It was the first time that the opera had been staged in Ireland in 50 years and the first Irish Isolde, soprano Miriam Murphy. We follow the journey of Fergus Sheil and the company, led by Gavin O'Sullivan as they take on the Everest of Opera and hear how opera is being re-imagined in Ireland.
