Irish Culture in Britain – A Centenary Celebration
On Thursday April 21st, The Lyric Concert broadcast live from the Wigmore Hall as part of a week-long festival celebrating Irish culture in Britain. It marked the strengthening of an important bond of friendship and reconciliation, recognising and enhancing further Ireland’s reputation for cultural excellence over the past century. The Gala Concert that evening honours those who died at Easter 1916, Irish and British, and all the soldiers who lost their lives in the Great War.
6:30pm – 7:00pm Irish Ambassador H. E. Daniel Mulhall gives a keynote address on 100 years of Irish culture.
7:00pm - 7:30pm Paul Herriott chats with our own Ann Murray ahead of tonight’s concert at the Wigmore Hall on lyric fm.
7:30pm – 10:00pm The music continues as BBC’s Sean Rafferty hosts the live programme in celebration of “Irish Culture in Britain – A Centenary celebration”. Featuring Ailish Tynan, Tara Erraught, Robin Tritschler, Gavan Ring, Finghin Collins, The RTÉ Contempo Quartet and choirs for the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.
