The Friday Concert with Paul Herriott

Paul Herriott presents 'Big on Britten: Saint Nicolas' with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

Intermezzo - Big on Britten: Saint Nicolas

Tomás Clancy and Raymond Blake enjoy their interval refreshments while joining the dots between Britten's St Nicholas and Orwell's 1984, and finally deciding whether Sassicaia is indeed the best wine to drink either while listening to Rossini's music, or eating the dish that bears his name.

Friday 19th January, 7.30pm

Stravinsky's  recently rediscovered Funeral Song composed in memory of his teacher Rimsky-Korsakov and his ballet Petrushka also feature alongside Brett Dean's Viola Concerto - an exercise in instrumental virtuosity - with the composer as soloist.
