This week on BLUE, we explore the enchanting sounds of the Javanese Gamelan courtesy of Mel Mercier (Professor of Music U.C.C.) and the Cork Gamelan Ensemble. Their recent release The Three Forges is a collaborative effort between the ensemble and guest artists as they create new music for an ancient sound. Artists include Iarla Ó Lionáird, Kate Ellis, Julie Feeney, Duke Special, Nick Roth, Buckley sisters Linda and Irene and the West Cork Ukulele Orchestra. Hear selections every night this week.

Renowned Armenian jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan has just released his first ECM recording - a sublime re-imagining of Armenian sacred music from the 5th through to the 20th Century. It features piano improvisations alongside stunning choral performances by the Yerevan State Chamber Choir.
