    June 22nd - 28th: June Christy

Something cool on the BLUE this week, as we remember a singer on the 25th anniversary of her passing. June Christy (who replaced Anita O’Day in the Stan Kenton Orchestra during the mid-1950s) enjoyed considerable solo success in the following decade. A four-time Downbeat winner, she also recorded with her husband, arranger/saxophonist Bob Cooper.

June 29th - July 5th: Iva Bittova sings Janácek

Czech composer Leoš Janácek was inspired by Moravian and other Slavic folk music. This week we honour his birthdate by featuring an album in which Czech singer Iva Bittova and the Skampa Quartet present a personal interpretation of Janácek’s collection of Moravian Folk Poetry in Songs. Masterful accompaniment to Bittova’s stunning vocals every night this week...
