    Aug 1. We kick off the month with old chestnuts and a range of new releases which include Howard Shelley (pictured, left), and a reading of Benjamin Godard's first piano concerto; a new, live (i.e. no overdubs) studio album by jazz trumpeter Sean Jones and his quartet; part of a string quartet by Ludwig Thuille; sisters Natascia and Raffaella Gazzana; American pianist Bill Carrothers, in advance of his date in Dublin later this month; Argentinian bandoneon player Dino Saluzzi; folk artist Bill Caddick; a sample from an ECM duet session by Jean-Louis Matinier (accordion) and Marco Ambrosini (nyckelharpa); music penned by young Austrian composer Johannes Berauer; more from Thomas Bartlett (see BLUE TUNES, below); and a slow movement for cello and piano courtesy of George Onslow.     American pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett is best known to us as a key component of The Gloaming. His many other projects include music under the moniker Doveman as well as collaborations with artists like The National, Antony and the Johnsons, Bebel Gilberto and more.
