    Enrique Granados: March 23rd - 29th

Ninety-nine years ago, while much of Europe was at war, Enrique Granados was savouring a Metropolitan Opera House premiere that was so successful that he received an invite from the White House. Triumph quickly turned to tragedy on the homeward journey across the Atlantic: Spain may have been a neutral country, but a German torpedo sunk the ship he was aboard. The self-taught composer - weighed down by the gold paid to him by the Met management - drowned in the English Channel, trying to rescue his wife. All this week, the music of Granados is featured on the programme. Listen out for performances by Julian Bream, on guitar; and jazzman Bill Evans, on piano.

    Anouar Brahem: March 30th - April 5th

Oud player Anouar Brahem has consistently produced mesmerising music for the ECM label. His latest work is no exception. Inspired by the political and social upheaval in his native Tunisia, "Souvenance" is supremely captivating and benefits from his piano based quartet along with a string orchestra. He's in the National Concert Hall next week with his quartet - so this week he is in the Blue spotlight.
