Tales from the Opera celebrates the doomed romance of Roméo et Juliette, in Charles Gounod's lyrical setting.

He loves... and she loves... Throw in a welter of class tensions, plot twists plus a rake of laughter, and set it to possibly the most sublime music in the western canon. It can only be Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. Tales from the Opera features a benchmark recording with Kiri Te Kanawa, Lucia Popp, Frederica von Stade, Samuel Ramey, Thomas Allen and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Georg Solti.
