Programme 2 - The 1960s
Listen to this programme
With man's first venture into space, Roger Doyle follows the music that celebrated Telstar, a number 1 hit from 1962; Stockhausen's 'Hymnen' from 1967, a musical eavesdrop in to planet earth from space and The Beatles' Revolution No. 9 - John Lennon's experimental 8-track tape piece from The White Album. Also music by Pierre Henry, whose 'musique concrète' made such an impact on the 60's.
