Opera Night with Paul Herriott

We delve into the archives again this week for another great recording by the legendary Maria Callas as we mark the 40th Anniversary of her death this month.

The Metropolitan Opera New York Saturday Matinee Broadcasts

Launched in 1931, the Met’s Saturday matinee broadcasts are the longest-running continuous classical radio series in American broadcast history. The 87th season of Saturday broadcasts will once again be heard over the Toll Brothers–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network. You can hear the 2017/18 Season every Saturday from 7pm on Opera Night and for details of the season, view their schedule here. (Please note that we will not be taking the Met broadcast of Saturday January 20th, 2018.)

Saturday 27th January - The Metropolitan Opera New York presents Puccini's Tosca

Sir David McVicar’s ravishing new production offers a splendid backdrop for the soprano in the title role as the jealous prima donna Tosca: Sonya Yoncheva. Vittorio Grigolo takes on the role of Tosca’s revolutionary artist lover Cavaradossi, with Sir Bryn Terfel as the depraved police chief Scarpia. (Sonya Yoncheva as Tosca and Željko Lucic as Scarpia in an Act II rehearsal for David McVicar's new production of "Tosca".
