    Congratulations to Opéra de Lyon. Their production of 'Le Roi Carotte' won "Rediscovered Work of the Year" at the 2016 International Opera Awards. If you missed our recent broadcast of this on Opera Night, then listen back here.

    Bernard Clarke presents Offenbach’s Le Roi Carotte a comic opera in three acts after ETA Hoffmann. Recorded at the Opera House in Lyon. Chripsophe Mortagne sings Le Roi Carotte, Yann Beuron sings Fridolin XXIV and Antoinette Dennefeld is the Princesse Cunegonde. The Lyon Opera Orchestra and Chorus is conducted by Victor Aviat.

    The Metropolitan Opera presents Puccini's Tosca. Sandra Radvanovsky stars as Floria Tosca with Marcello Giordani as Cavaradossi and George Gagnidze as Baron Scarpia.

    Saturday June 4th - The Marriage of Figaro

    Bernard Clarke brings us the ever popular Marriage of Figaro from the Civic Opera House in Chicago. This performance features Adam Plachetka in the title role, Christiane Karg as Suzanna,  Amanda Majeski as Countess Almaviva, Luca Pisaroni as Count Almaviva, Rachel Frenkel as Cherubino, Katharine Goeldner as Marcellina, and Brindley Sherratt as Bartolo.     Saturday Jun 11th - The Indian Queen by Henry Purcell

    Vlad Smishkewyich presents The Indian Queen performed by The Sixteen under Harry Christophers. Based on Dryden’s play, Henry Purcell’s music from The Indian Queen deals with the conflict between Mexicans and Peruvians and principally with Queen Zempoalla. The Indian Queen is a classic story of love and war and, as with all good stories, things don’t go quite as planned for the eponymous Queen... (Picture by Molinavisuals)
