    Each Saturday, from December to May, RTÉ lyric fm brings you the Metropolitan Opera’s Saturday matinee broadcasts direct from New York. The 84th season begins on December 6, 2014, with Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia, starring Isabel Leonard. Twenty-three broadcasts will be presented on the Toll Brothers–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network through May 9, 2014. Margaret Juntwait returns as the series’s host, joined by commentator Ira Siff.

    Opera Night - Rinaldo

    Continuing his exploration of the recordings of early and Baroque operas by Belgian conductor René Jacobs, tonight Bernard Clarke presents Handel's Rinaldo.

    Coming up on Saturday 1st June 2013

    In advance of their production of La Traviata in the Gaiety next week, Bernard Clarke presents a recording of Lyric Opera’s production of The Marriage of Figaro, recorded in January this year. Cast includes John Molloy as Figaro, Claudia Boyle as Susanna, Sharon Carty as Cherubino and Miriam Murphy as Marcellina.

    Saturday January 31st - Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann
    Vittorio Grigolo plays the tortured poet and unwitting adventurer of the title. The heroine is played by Hibla Gerzmava.     Saturday February 7th - Verdi’s Macbeth
    Anna Netrebko moves boldly into Verdi with her searing portrayal of Lady Macbeth, the mad and murderous mate of Željko Lucic’s doomed Macbeth. Adrian Noble’s chilling production also stars Joseph Calleja as the noble Macduff and René Pape as Banquo. Fabio Luisi conducts.
