All About Eve is the cinema's thorny valentine to the theatre world and Aedín includes Alfred Newman's classic score this evening. Plus she features the music of Maurice Jarre from Ryan's Daughter and songs from Goodnight and Good Luck and O' Brother Where Art Thou?

Aedín also talks to film critic, broadcaster, quiff-wearer and something of a cult figure, Mark Kermode about his new book 'It's Only a Movie'.

Kim Novak, the female star of Hitchcock's Vertigo, is under the spotlight this evening, plus we have a fine mix of classical and jazz on the soundtracks to Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Argentinean born composer, conductor and pianist Lalo Schifrin has written over 100 film scores over the course of his career, including music for such films as The Cincinnati Kid, Cool Hand Luke, Bullitt, Dirty Harry and Enter the Dragon. He has also written a great deal of music for television, including the memorable theme for Mission Impossible. Aedín talks to him about his hugely successful career ahead of a concert in The National Concert Hall with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

In this weeks Movie News, Garret talks about the demise of Miramax Films and the future for a new franchise, Sherlock Holmes.

In the cinemas on Friday, the everlasting cinema force that is Clint Eastwood returns once more to the directors chair with Invictus starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. There are two animation releases, one called Astro Boy, the other The Princess and the Frog. Youth in Revolt is out on preview screenings, while Irish movie 'Eamon' makes it the cinema.
