Movies and Musicals Saturday 15 March 2014
Aedín features American singer and actress Bernadette Peters in a selection of Stephen Sondheim musicals including Merrily we Roll Along and Follies. Plus movie music from two films dealing with newspaper publishers; the 2017 film The Post scored by John Williams and the 1941 classic Citizen Kane scored by Bernard Herrmann.
With Oscar Fever hotting up ahead of the Academy Awards tomorrow night, it’s Oscar award winning music all the way. Aedín will feature music from past winners in the best original score and song categories and she will take a listen to those hoping to take home that gold statuette this year, including original scores for The Shape of Water, Dunkirk and Phantom Thread and original songs from Coco, Call Me by Your Name and The Greatest Showman. Dress to impress and have your acceptance speech at the ready!
You can listen again here to Aedín's interviews with 'Coco' director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson (pictured), composer Michael Giacchino, Dame Julie Andrews, Dame Angela Lansbery and composer, writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, responsible for the Broadway smash-hit musical Hamilton and the songs of Moana.
