Aedín Gormley
Aedín is a native of Dublin and has been working in radio since graduating from University College Dublin in 1993. She first worked in Irish language broadcasting with Raidió na Life and then moved to Raidió na Gaeltachta where she presented a diverse range of programmes. Her next move was to RTÉ Radio 1, first as a member of the Presentation Department, then as presenter of 'The Weekend on One'.
Aedín joined RTÉ lyric fm when the station was founded in May 1999. She presented the award winning arts programme Artszone for ten years. The hugely popular Movies and Musicals (formerly Green Room Cinema) is the only national radio programme of its kind and features a broad range of soundtracks from early classics, right through to contemporary scores. Aedín has interviewed many famous names including Colin Firth, Julie Andrews, Cameron Mackintosh, Mickey Rooney, Colin Farrell and Elaine Stritch. She has also interviewed composers John Barry, Lalo Schifrin, Hans Zimmer, Alan Menken and John Corigliano.
In 2011 Aedín began presenting a new programme entitled My Tunes. Each week she invites a guest to select, listen to and discuss a number of music pieces that hold a special meaning for them.
Her work with lyric fm has allowed Aedín to indulge her passion for all areas of music and the arts. She has presented several concerts with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra including a concert of the music of film score composer John Barry with the composer present as special guest at a very memorable evening at The National Concert Hall.
