The Composer in Residence Scheme was set up to allow lyric to build a relationship with someone who would not only write new music for broadcast, but also contribute to the wider array of the station's activities. For details of the commissioned works, visit the Composer in Residence webpage.

The Rescue - by Fergal Carroll
The music for The Rescue was composed by Fergal Carroll to a story written by Maighread Medhbh. It is performed by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, conducted by David Brophy and narrated by Killinaskcully actor Louis Lovett.

The Rambles of Mozart - by Frankie Gavin
This piece mixes Mozartean material with a traditional Irish style. It was commissioned in 2004 as a contribution from RTÉ lyric fm to the European Broadcast Union Mozart in New Clothes project.
It has been broadcast on RTÉ lyric fm and on many European radio stations.
