Classical Kids

We'll take an unseasonal listen to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker on Sunday including the Dance of the Reed Flutes, plus an orchestra of brass instruments and a ukulele orchestra.

Sunday January 29th, 10am

This morning we’ll hear Prokofiev’s Winter Bonfire, written for the story of a group of Russian boy scouts, the Pioneers, who go on a train journey to the countryside and find a great bonfire. We'll also hear the second part of the Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra read by Dame Edna Everage, and we’ll hear dances by some of the great composers - a waltz by Johann Strauss II, a Spanish dance by Ravel and ballet music by Khachaturian!

Sunday February 5th, 10am

We'll explore the woodwind instruments this morning, as we hear music played on a bassoon, a flute, a clarinet and some of the rest of the family! We'll also hear music that George Gershwin wrote for a busy European city and we'll hear the second of the Young Persons Guide to the orchestra, read by Dame Edna Everage.
