Fauré wrote a suite for a girl named Dolly and included movements such as 'Kitty-Valse' written for a dog. We'll hear it on Sunday plus a song of wrong notes by Leonard Bernstein.

    Sunday May 31st
After overhearing his sister’s piano lessons, Mexican composer Manuel Ponce went straight to the piano and played her pieces by ear, without ever having had a lesson himself. His parents sent the musical prodigy to a teacher of his own, and we'll hear some of the music he wrote for the guitar on Sunday morning. We'll also hear the story of Babar the Elephant with music by Francis Poulenc, beautifully read by Meryl Streep.

    Sunday June 7th
'The Mighty Handful may sound like a group of superheroes, but they're actually five of the great Russian composers who lived in the 19th century. We'll find out more about them on Sunday and hear music including the Polovtsian Dances by Borodin and Night on a Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky. We'll also hear choral music by the composer Eric Whitacre, who records singers all over the world to perform in his virtual choir!
