Classical Kids

    Sunday, 7 - 8am

Make sure to visit our new Classical Kids gallery here, featuring some of the pictures you created listening to our programmes! This is by our most recent Classical Kids artist, Aisling Browne aged 7 who lives in Heidelberg, Germany.

The first is a great circus scene she drew while listening to Entry Of The Gladiators by Julius Fucik, and the second picture features lots of musical instruments - the piano, trumpet, drum, cymbals and oboe and violin - as well as a plus a clog inspired by a Clog Dance!

Fauré wrote a suite for a girl named Dolly and included movements such as 'Kitty-Valse' written for a dog. We'll hear it on Sunday plus a song of wrong notes by Leonard Bernstein.

    Sunday March 1st
Classical Kids celebrates the first day of Spring with part of Vivaldi's Four Seasons describing springtime rain, birds singing and a happy dance. We'll also hear music written especially for different times of the day, starting with an energetic sunrise by Ferde Grofe and finishing with a beautiful nocturne by John Field.

    Sunday March 8th
The Russian composer Dmitri Kabalevsky loved writing music for children, and on Sunday’s Classical Kids we’ll hear his children’s piano pieces and his songs performed by a children’s choir. We’ll also hear instruments from around the world, including bagpipes from Scotland, a didgeridoo from Australia and the cimbalom from Hungary.
