    Classical Kids

Classical Kids will send you back to sleep this morning with beautiful lullabies from around the world. Plus a musical menagerie by Camille Saint-Saens - The Carnival of the Animal

    Sunday July 12th
It took Edvard Grieg many months to write the music for 'Peer Gynt', the story of a lazy Norwegian farm-boy, and although Grieg may not have enjoyed writing it, we certainly enjoy listening to it. We'll hear his music this morning including the Arabian Dance and In the Hall of the Mountain King. We'll also hear music by the Italian composer Jean-Baptiste Lully, who studied the guitar, violin, keyboard and was a famous dancer!

    Sunday July 19th
When trying to write music that described different birds, Respighi took tunes written by composers from the 17th century and rearranged them to sound like birdsong. Tune in this Sunday, as we hear The Hen, which used music by Rameau, and The Cuckoo which was based on an English folksong. We'll also spend time with our favourite pets, with Gershwin's Walking the Dog and a Cats Duet by Rossini.
