    Classical Kids

    Music by Johann Strauss II this morning - performed by a gypsy band and an orchestra - plus the story of Babar the Elephant with wonderful music by Francis Poulenc.

    Sunday November 22nd

    Bedrich Smetana loved Czechoslovakia very much, and when he wrote a set of dances about it he gave them fun names such as Oats, Neighbours Dance and Little Onion - the things he saw about him every day. We'll hear some of these dances on Sunday plus music by Prokofiev including the exciting Dance of the Pagan Monster from his Scythian Suite.

    Sunday November 29th

    Grieg's Lyric Pieces are a set of 66 short piano pieces with fun names such as Elves Dance, Once Upon a Time and Grandmother's Minuet. We'll hear some of these piano pieces today and we'll hear music Grieg write for piano and orchestra, with part of his famous Piano Concerto. We'll also meet some of our favourite musical creatures in Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals.
