Classical Kids Sunday 5 January 2014

Classical Kids

Today we look at 'tempo' and hear slow and fast pieces of music. Plus favourite nursery rhymes as composed by Richard Rodney Bennett and the Runaway Bunny read by Brooke Shields.

Sunday August 27th, 10am

Music fans got so excited watching Franz Liszt play piano, they would keep his rubbish as souvenirs and even faint at performances. This obsession was called 'Lisztomania', and on Sunday we'll hear exciting music by Liszt including his Hungarian Rhapsodies and La Campanella. Make sure you have a hat, a scarf, an umbrella and sunglasses too, because we're going to listen to lots of music about the weather!

Sunday September 3rd, 10am

Classical Kids goes back to school this week with Music in the Classroom and the story of The Three Little Pigs. We'll also hear music that Franz Schubert and Gustav Holst wrote for school orchestras to play, and we'll hear a musical tribute by the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos to the music of Bach.
