    Sunday June 28th
Edward Elgar loved to compose as a child and he even wrote music for a play that he performed with his with his brothers and sisters. Years later when he was a successful composer he arranged it for an orchestra and called it his 'Wand of Youth' Suite, and we'll hear it on Sunday. We'll also hear the story of Tubby the Tuba read by Stephen Fry.

    Sunday July 5th
Benjamin Britten used short piano tunes that he wrote when he was ten, to compose music for young music students to play. But his Simple Symphony became so popular; many professional orchestras still play it today. We'll hear it on Sunday morning, with movements including the Boisterous Bourrée and Frolicsome Finale. We'll also hear music by Ponchielli written for lots of different times of the day in his Dance of the Hours.

    Sunday July 12th
It took Edvard Grieg many months to write the music for 'Peer Gynt', the story of a lazy Norwegian farm-boy, and although Grieg may not have enjoyed writing it, we certainly enjoy listening to it. We'll hear his music this morning including the Arabian Dance and In the Hall of the Mountain King. We'll also hear music by the Italian composer Jean-Baptiste Lully, who studied the guitar, violin, keyboard and was a famous dancer!
